Appointments
Appointments with your doctor can be made by calling reception on 03 6245 0777.
If your problem is an emergency, dial 000 immediately for an ambulance.
The doctors consulting from our practice offer consultations by appointment only. Urgent medical problems are prioritised. Please notify reception when you phone if your problem is urgent.
Your doctor is best equipped to handle your medical care through a face-to-face consultation. The doctors we support offer standard 15-minute consultations and longer 30-minute consultations. Care plans and procedures often require dedicated appointments.
Non-attendance
Failure to attend an appointment is inconvenient to others trying to obtain appointments. Your doctor may charge you a fee for non-attendance. If you need to cancel an appointment please do so well before the allocated time.
Telephone appointments
Your doctor may be able to offer you a telephone consultation. Rebates for telephone appointments are typically subject to additional Medicare eligibility requirements. Medicare requires that you have had a face-to-face consultation with your doctor within the 12 months prior to having a telephone appointment. There are limited exceptions to this requirement, such as for children under 12 months of age, and people who have tested positive to COVID-19 in the 7 days prior to the appointment.
Not all issues are able to be managed over the phone and your doctor may still recommend a face-to-face appointment.
Where appropriate, our nursing staff can take calls on behalf of your doctor to help triage urgent issues and to follow up results.
Please be aware that your doctor may decline communication through email, text message, or fax due to potential issues with message delivery and the risk of misunderstandings.
After hours
If you require health advice after hours, please phone our After Hours Medical Deputising service Healthdirect on: 1800 022 222
Urgent appointments
Please notify our staff if your health concern is urgent or an emergency. Your doctor may be able to accommodate on-the-day and walk-in appointments where medically necessary. Your doctor always prefers you calling ahead for an appointment over walking in, to help plan their workload and help limit them running late. If you walk in and it is not for an urgent problem, you may be asked to make a standard appointment.
Waiting times
Nobody likes to be kept waiting. Your doctor aims to see you as promptly as possible but sometimes waiting is unavoidable. This may be due to other consultations taking longer than expected or due to medical emergencies. If you have more than one issue that you need to discuss with your doctor, please book a long appointment. When you arrive for your appointment, please notify reception that you have arrived.
Home visits
The doctors we support may offer home visits on a case-by-case basis where medically necessary. This is often in the context of advanced frailty or end of life care. It is usually preferable to attend the clinic as this is better equipped for examination and treatment.
