Understanding billing and payment policies
Private Billing: The independent doctors consulting from Bellerive Doctors operate private billing services. This means you will incur an out-of-pocket expense when you see a doctor at this practice. The fee depends on the length and complexity of the consultation. The fee the doctor charges is confirmed by them at the end of your consult.
Payment on the Day: Payment is required on the day of your consult. A $10 late payment fee will be charged if payment is not received within 7 days of your consultation.
Payment of Rebates: If you have a Savings or Cheque account linked to your bank card, we can process your Medicare claim on our Tyro machine, and Medicare will deposit your rebate into your account immediately. If you do not have a card, or if you pay over the phone, Medicare will deposit your rebate into your nominated account within 24-48 hours.
Cancellation Policy: If you fail to attend an appointment, a $60 cancellation fee will apply. Cancelling an appointment with less than 2 hours’ notice will incur a $50 late cancellation fee.
Concession Rates:
You may be eligible for the concession rate if you are:
• A child aged 13-18
• A person over the age of 75
• A Commonwealth concession card-holder
Children: Children aged 12 and under may be bulk billed at their GP’s discretion. Children aged 13 and older will be charged a private fee at the concession rate.
Additional Fees: Some services may include additional fees for procedures and consumables, which help cover the cost of materials and equipment. Medicare rules do not allow your doctor to bulk bill you when you are charged these additional fees.
Surcharges: The cost of processing card payments may be passed on to the patient as a surcharge
